Process & Funding
The Redlands Corridor AA is being prepared in accordance with federal guidelines, and is being funded through federal and local funding.
Upon completion of the Redlands Corridor AA, and adoption of a Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA), SANBAG will formally submit an application to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for grant funding. If the FTA recommends approval for funding, these funds will be used to move the project into the final stage of development (design and engineering). The remainder of the project funds will come from state and local sources, including Measure I. Construction of the Redlands Corridor Project was identified in the voter approved extension of Measure I in November 2004. Measure I is the half-cent sales tax collected throughout San Bernardino County for transportation improvements
Environmental Process
In accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), a Draft Environmental Impact Report / Environmental Assessment (EIR/EA) will be prepared as part of the AA study. The Draft EIR/EA will assess the site characteristics, size, nature, and timing of the proposed site-specific projects to determine whether the impacts are potentially significant and whether impacts can be avoided or mitigated.
Community input is an important part of the environmental process! A Notice of Preparation/Notice of Intent has been prepared which identifies issues that have been identified for review through the Draft EIR/EA, which include:
- Air Quality
- Noise/Vibration
- Traffic and Circulation
- Land Use, Development, Planning, & Growth
- Biological Resources—Section 7
