Interstate 15: Main Street Interchange
SANBAG authorized Regional Improvement Program funds and federal Surface Transportation Program funds for the reconstruction of the Main Street interchange with Interstate 15 in Hesperia. The project will replace the two-lane bridge with a six-lane bridge, modify existing freeway ramps, add two new ramps, add traffic signals and realign the Mariposa frontage road.
The project is funded jointly by SANBAG, the City of Hesperia and Caltrans, with Caltrans serving as the lead agency. Once completed, the reconstructed interchange will improve circulation across and access to Interstate 15, and provide much-needed congestion relief to Main Street, which is a major street in the city.
Construction on the interchange project began in the fall of 2003 and was completed November 2005. The total construction cost is $9.5 million.
