Measure I Regional & Local Street Projects:
Mountain/Desert Subareas

Of the current 1990-2010 Measure I funds generated in the Mountain/Desert communities, 65% of the revenue is returned to the cities for use on regional road improvement projects, 30% is returned to cities for local road projects and 5% is designated for mountain and desert bus transit operators. In the upcoming Measure I renewal period for the years 2010-2040, funds generated are divided 70% for local road projects, 25% for major local highway projects and 5% for the bus transit operators.
Projects include:

  • Street widening
  • Installation of traffic signals
  • Pavement replacement/repair
  • Storm drain facilities
  • Bridge retrofit, repair or replacement
  • Upgrades to meet American Disability Act standards

City councils make decisions about the expenditure of Measure I funds and they adopt the projects in a five-year Capital Improvement Plan. Annual audits are conducted to ensure that Measure I revenue is spent according to plan. The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors makes decisions about Measure I fund expenditures within the unincorporated areas of the county.

Fact sheets about the Measure I expenditures for each city, town, and unincorporated area are available:
