Interstate 10: Live Oak Canyon Road Interchange

Live Oak Canyon off rampSANBAG and the City of Yucaipa are working to widen and realign the Interstate 10  Live Oak Canyon Road interchange in Yucaipa. This project includes reconstructing the road between Calimesa Boulevard and Outer Highway South and replacing the current two-lane bridge with a new five-lane bridge. Eastbound and westbound ramps will be widened and realigned, and traffic signals will be installed.

An early portion of this project – the construction of a new bridge at 14th Street – was completed in 2002. This early project, which cost $1.3 million, helped improve access through the area. The entire interchange project, including the 14th Street bridge early project, will cost approximately $22.2 million.

Design for the project was placed on hold in 2002, due to the Traffic Congestion Relief Program (TCRP) funding being halted from 2002 to 2005, work resumed in 2006, and final design was approved in May 2007.

SANBAG awarded the $11.89 million construction contract for this project in July 2007. Construction began in September, 2007. Work will take about 18 to 24 months to complete.

The project is funded by the state’s Traffic Congestion Relief Program and the City of Yucaipa, which advanced funds that will be repaid from Measure I 2010-2040 revenue.
