Health Access in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties:
Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT)
SANBAG, other public agencies and private health care partners conducted a study during 2003 and 2004 to examine the challenges of non-emergency medical transportation in the Inland Empire. Funding for the study was provided by Caltrans Planning Funds for Studies of Statewide Significance, and a unique partnership of seven health care and public transit agencies that provided local matching dollars. Funding partners were Inland Empire Health Plan, Kaiser Permanente, Molina Health Care, Health Net, Inc., Community Hospital of San Bernardino, Southern California Association of Governments, the Riverside County Transportation Commission and SANBAG.
The study results were presented at a conference in March 2005 held in Ontario. Several documents related to the study are available:
