New Park & Ride Lot available for commuters

San Bernardino County commuters have a new place to park before getting aboard their carpool or vanpool.

San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG) and Caltrans have opened a new Park & Ride at Crossroads Christian Fellowship Church, 3012 N. Waterman Avenue in San Bernardino. Located just east of the Interstate 215/Route 210 interchange at the northwest corner of Waterman Avenue and 30th Street, the lot includes 50 parking spaces for the commuting public. Access to the Park & Ride lot is on Belle Street at 30th Street.

SANBAG and Caltrans are leasing the parking lot from the church to provide a convenient location for carpoolers to park. Because this lot is located near the Interstate 215/Route 210 interchange, it will provide easy access to the newly opened freeway.

“This Park & Ride lot will help ease the stress on our ridesharing commuters, reduce freeway congestion and decrease vehicle emissions,” said Michelle Kirkhoff, director of air quality and mobility programs for SANBAG.

The lot is being leased for two years at a cost of $6,000, which is funded through federal Congestion Mitigation/Air Quality program and Measure I, the half-cent sales tax for transportation improvements in San Bernardino County.
