SANBAG Named WTS Employer of the Year
San Bernardino Associated Governments was recognized May 3 as the International Employer of the Year by Women’s Transportation Seminar at an awards dinner in San Diego. SANBAG, which is the transportation authority for San Bernardino County, was selected for its commitment to transportation and support of women in the industry.
More than half of SANBAG employees are members of the Inland Empire Chapter of WTS, including five executive staff and four who serve in chapter leadership roles. Among the SANBAG staff, 26 of 35 are female.
“Being recognized as Employer of the Year is a wonderful conclusion to my first year at SANBAG,” said Executive Director Tony Grasso. “We have worked very hard to be sure everyone on our team knows they have a voice and their input is valued. This is paying great dividends to the productivity of the organization.”
WTS is an international organization dedicated to the professional advancement of women in transportation. With more than 4,000 female and male members across the United States and in London and Puerto Rico, WTS helps women find opportunity and recognition in the transportation industry.
The Inland Empire Chapter of WTS was formed in early 2005 and has close to 200 members who meet regularly for programs, professional development and fund raising for college scholarships.
