SANBAG allocates $4.3 million for
bike, pedestrian, transit access projects
Bicyclists, pedestrians and mass transit riders soon will have trails and access, thanks to the award of close to $4.3 million in state funds for projects across San Bernardino County.
The San Bernardino Associated Governments Board of Directors approved the award of these funds on April 4. Projects totaling $3,480,617 were approved for bicycle and pedestrian improvements; projects totaling $814,926 were approved for transit stop access. Funded through the Transportation Development Act Article 3, the projects must be completed by June 2009. Projects include:
Bicycle & Pedestrian Projects
- Sidewalk from Mill Creek Road to Paine Road, Big Bear Lake, $318,745
- Bicycle lane demarcation, Chino Hills, $35,000
- Sidewalk improvements, Colton, $195,964
- Trail staging area for Santa Ana River Trail, Colton, $210,393
- Sidewalk and bicycle lane on Mt. Vernon Avenue, Grand Terrace, $270,360
- Civic Center bike path, Hesperia, $245,409
- Pedestrian walkway on Church Avenue, Highland, $94,939
- Pedestrian improvements on Fern Avenue, Ontario, $161,427
- Phase IV of Pacific Electric Inland Empire Bikeway, Grove Avenue to Cucamonga Creek, Rancho Cucamonga, $1,315,500
- 5th Street/Greenspot Road bikeway, Waterman Avenue to Palm Avenue and Boulder Avenue to Valencia Court, San Bernardino and Highland, $242,880
