San Bernardino Valley Projects

By approving Measure I, San Bernardino County voters guaranteed that all of the funds collected would be expended in San Bernardino County for certain types of transportation projects.

The projects specifically slated for the San Bernardino Valley are:

  • Major Projects: Measure I provides the funding necessary for the construction and/or improvement of freeways within the San Bernardino valley region, including Interstate 10, Interstate 215, State Route 210, State Route 60, and State Route 71.

  • Local Distribution: Measure I revenue is distributed to the cities within the county based on population or return to source for use on streets and roads pursuant to a Five-Year Capital Improvement Program and a Twenty-Year Transportation Plan. The transportation plan and improvement program are adopted by resolution of the local jurisdictions annually and are available for public review.

  • Arterial Program: Measure I revenue supports improvements to major streets within the San Bernardino valley region. More than $22.5 million in Measure I revenue is distributed each year to the county and individual cities within San Bernardino County.

  • Commuter Rail Program: Measure I funds have been spent in the creation and continued operation of Metrolink, including service from San Bernardino and Ontario to Los Angeles and service from San Bernardino to San Clemente.

  • Elderly and Disabled Transit Program: Measure I funds are spent annually for a program to reduce fares and enhance services for elderly and disabled transit users in the San Bernardino valley region.

  • Traffic Management Implementation & Environmental Enhancement Program: Measure I funds projects for both traffic management and environmental enhancement in the San Bernardino valley region.
